According to The Daily Record, Steven Gerrard and Glasgow Rangers could make a move for Daniel Sturridge during the January transfer window.
Rangers could eye Sturridge
With the Gers flying high at the moment – they top the Premiership by 11 points, have won their Europa League group and have not lost in 26 games in all competitions – they will only be looking to sign any players next month if they truly add something to squad.
The Record say that Sturridge could be on their radar, with him still a free agent since leaving Trabzonspor earlier this year.
Sturridge has struggled with injuries throughout his career, and that has therefore curtailed what he has been able to achieve. However, there is no doubt that, at his best, he is a handful. He has 118 goals throughout his career, including 68 in 160 games for Liverpool, and he also has eight strikes in 26 England caps. Last year, he was even compared to Brazil star Neymar by Karren Brady.
Would you like to sign Daniel Sturridge?
Sturridge would bring with him a whole load of fan-fare, and he would perhaps be an unwanted distraction for the Gers as they go for a first piece of major silverware since 2011. However, in terms of his ability, he would be a fantastic signing for the 54-time Scottish champions – it remains to be seen whether Gerrard will take a gamble on the 31-year-old.
In other news, the Gers have been put off signing this Championship star.
