According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are preparing to offer a new deal to Glasgow Rangers target Jacob Murphy.
Murphy eyed for new deal
The Gers have been heavily linked with a move for the £3.15m-valued 25-year-old (Transfermarkt), whose current deal runs out at the end of the current campaign.

In an attempt to keep him at St. James’ Park, the Magpies are preparing to give Murphy a new deal. They are desperate not to lose him on a free transfer, it seems.
Blow for Gerrard
After spending the last one-and-a-half seasons out on loan at West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday, it seemed the former Norwich City man didn’t have much chance of making his way back into Steve Bruce’s plans. However, he has already made eight appearances in all competitions for the Toon this term, scoring twice and providing one assist.

Former Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez said he was a “talented” player upon his signature, and it seems that Bruce is finally realising that. That is bad news for Steven Gerrard, though, as it all but ends his chances of taking Murphy to Ibrox. In their quest for a new winger, it seems that the 54-time Scottish champions will have to look elsewhere.
