Rangers: Gers eye Nnamdi Ofoborh

According to The Scottish Sun, Glasgow Rangers have entered talks to sign Nnamdi Ofoborh on a pre-contract deal from Bournemouth.

Ofoborh on Gers radar

The Gers have been linked with a number of pre-contract deals already this month, including for Preston North End duo Ben Davies and Daniel Johnson (Football Insider).

Now, it seems they are looking at Ofoborh. The Ibrox outfit are already said to have held initial discussions with the Cherries as they look to sign the 21-year-old ahead of the next term.

One for the future

Ofoborh’s experience with Bournemouth is limited – he has made just five appearances for them in all competitions (Transfermarkt), but he impressed last season at Wycombe Wanderers. The latter were promoted to the Championship for the first time in their history, and the defender, who can also play in midfield, played 25 times in all competitions, including in both legs of the play-off semi-final as well as the final.

Phil Catchpole, who commentates Wycombe matches on BBC radio, said that Ofoborh is a “wonderful guy” (afcb.co.uk), and claimed that Chairboys wanted to sign the youngster permanently last summer.

Although the Nigeria U20 international has not yet muscled his way into Jason Tindall’s first-team at Dean Court on a regular basis, he is a player with plenty of promise. It remains to be seen whether Ross Wilson can convince him to move to the 54-time Scottish champions.

In other news, Rangers fans are livid at this transfer news.
