It’s fair to say that Everton’s season has somewhat petered out in recent weeks and this is a view echoed by many in the Transfer Tavern.

Whilst Ronald Koeman has had an impressive first season at Goodison Park. Constant comments about the Barcelona job and the Netherlands job has definitely annoyed many of the resident Toffees in the Tavern who simply feel the Dutchman has not been fully focused on ending the season with their club in the recent weeks.

Though this is a major frustration for many of the Everton fans in the Tavern, our landlord has been quick to remind them that Koeman has brought through many of their talented young players this season and it seems that the future is bright for the blue half of Merseyside – if these players fulfill the promise that they are currently showing, there is no reason to as why they cannot challenge for Champions League football on a regular basis.

Of course, qualifying for the Champions League sounds easier that it actually is and our landlord has suggested that a few minor tweaks to the Everton squad are needed in order to reach this goal. As well as outlining potential signings, he has said who he feels will be axed in the summer to make way for such signings.

Let’s take a look at TWO players that may well be on their way out of Goodison Park this summer…

Ross Barkley

With Ronald Koeman stating a month a go that Ross Barkley may be sold if he does not sign a new deal, our landlord believes it is very realistic that the Englishman could be on his way out of Goodison Park in the summer.

Whilst this is devastating news for the Toffees in the Transfer Tavern, Barkley’s desire to play Champions League football may mean Everton will be getting rid of a player that no longer wishes to play for them and if sold to another English club, the fee for Barkley could be very handy in boosting Koeman’s budget to spend in the summer transfer window.

Phil Jagielka

The Everton captain has said he is unsure whether he will be at Everton next season, although he would like to stay at Goodison Park.

The former Sheffield United centre-back has been in and out of the Everton side this season and whilst our resident Toffees in the Tavern would love to see their captain stay at the club, they understand the desire of Jagielka to want the security of playing regularly.

Should be move, our landlord doubts Jagielka will leave the Premier League and feels he could shore up many defences in the bottom half of the table.
