Manchester United: Odion Ighalo and Eric Cantona transfer comparison from Mark Bosnich has supporters confused

According to quotes from Sky Sports News, ex-Manchester United keeper Mark Bosnich has drawn comparisons between the Odion Ighalo last-minute January transfer and Eric Cantona’s signing – prompting some supporters to scratch their heads over his reasoning and one to label the comparison “insane“.

Bosnich, who made 35 appearances for United in all competitions after signing on a free transfer from Aston Villa back in 1999, has since gone on to explain to Sky Sports that the deal to bring Ighalo to Old Trafford could result in the Nigerian surpassing all expectations similar to Cantona.

The former Watford man, during his time in England, racked up 40 goals for the Hornets whilst assisting 11 others over 100 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt) – potentially highlighting that he has already proved he can hit his stride in the Premier League. By comparison, Cantona bagged 81 strikes and a notable 61 assists over 179 outings for the Red Devils – with Ighalo obviously having a long way to go to match those numbers.

As a result, these Red Devils supporters couldn’t believe Bosnich’s verdict – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
