Liverpool’s owners FSG have overseen a huge change in the fortunes of the Anfield outfit.
When they took over in 2010, the Reds were in dire financial difficulty – there had even been talk of them going in to administration. However, since then, the Merseyside club have gone on to become European champions, whilst they also lead the table by 25 points from Manchester City – there is arguably no better team in the country right now.

At the moment, the biggest story in English football other than when the sport will restart in the midst of the current pandemic is Newcastle’s prospective takeover. It looks as though the Saudi Arabian Royal Family will soon complete the takeover, making them the richest club in the Premier League.

With that in mind, Twitter page Empire of the Kop has asked their followers whether they would like the club to be taken over in such a way – that has been met by a resounding no. The supporters have taken to the social media platform to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments below.
That would be the end for me. The absolute end. It would be as far removed from the ethos of the club as it’s possible to get. I’m not talking about FSG, I’m talking about the cultural foundations of the city and its fans. Those that make LFC the club that it is.

Saudis would be a step too far for me.

Personally I would be disgusted if we needed money from a vile state like that to be successful.

Always be a fan but I’d stop going and wouldn’t give another penny to them. Not my choice a club I’d have followed my whole life have suddenly been bought by vile people so I’d always be a fan but I would stop being a paying customer immediately.

I’ve heard younger fans say they’d love this, but personally I’d hate it. The history and ethics the club were built on would be destroyed. We’ve always done business the right way, spending what we earn #WeAreLiverpool

That would ruin everything. Would probably stop caring like I do now. It would not be my team or my club anymore.
