The people of Liverpool do not have a good relationship with The Sun to say the least.
That dates back to the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, when 96 Reds fans never returned from the F.A Cup semi-final between the Anfield outfit and Nottingham Forest. The Sun pointed the finger at the Liverpool fans, and accused them of some rather disgusting things – they have been fighting for justice ever since.
The newspaper does not sell well on Merseyside at all, and it seems it is struggling all over the country at the moment in part due to the current pandemic. The outlet’s editor, Dan Wootton, has implored people to buy the newspaper to keep journalism alive.
This was picked up by Twitter page Empire of the Kop, and as you can imagine, it had the club’s supporters absolutely disgusted. One even suggested that the journalist was ‘pure evil.’
They have been reacting in huge numbers on the social media platform, and you can see some of the best comments below.

We have got a great opportunity to come out of this crisis with something really positive – the death of this awful rag. Lets not waste this chance. Lets get everyone to spend their 50p’s on something worthwhile.
