For a while it looked as though the Premier League may not be returning, but developments in recent days mean that Liverpool fans can hold on to their hopes of being crowned champions of England.

Of course, the coronavirus pandemic has seen professional football across the continent suspended due to it not being safe to proceed, but it looks as though a sliver of normality may be about to return. Germany’s top flight, the Bundesliga, will return on Saturday, becoming the first major European league to do so, and now there has been a development in England as well.

On Monday, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed that sport could be played from 1 June and a report subsequently emerged saying that the FA has told the Premier League that voiding the campaign is not an option.
