Liverpool: Reds target Zakaria changes agent

In a boost to Liverpool, Reds target Denis Zakaria has changed his agent.

The Anfield outfit have been linked with a move for Zakaria recently, with Real Madrid also mentioned as a potential destination for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

Now, though, in a move that could be a boost for the Reds, the 23-year-old has changed his representatives. He will now be a client of LIAN Sports, the same agent of Leroy Sane and Jerome Boateng.

Of course, a change in agent does not necessarily confirm that Zakaria will be on the move. There could be a whole host of reasons why he would look to change his representatives. However, potential transfers are often an important reason for such a change.

An agent’s job is to look after his clients as much as possible, and that can often be securing the best financial deal out there. That usually occurs in two situations – contract renewals and transfer negotiations. The rest of the time, the representative can often sit back and watch the money roll in.

It remains to be seen what happens with Zakaria. With a Transfermarkt value of £32.4m, he is unlikely to be a total snip, but could cost less than the €55m (£49.4m) release clause of Timo Werner. The agent change, though, offers a glimmer of hope.
