Loads of Liverpool fans have fumed at Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Angel Di Maria after he claimed that Ligue 1 is more competitive than the Premier League.
The Argentina international defended his league after it was accused of being predictable and uncompetitive after the French giants have won six out of the last seven league titles, as per World Football. Liverpool find themselves top of the league standings by 22 points ahead of Manchester City in what has been a remarkable campaign for the Reds. Meanwhile, PSG are 15 points clear of Marseille at the summit and look set to secure their third straight title.
Answering to his side’s critics, Di Maria, who is valued at £36m by TransferMarkt, told Ligue 1’s official website [via Goal.com] that the French league is becoming more and more competitive, using the example of the Anfield club’s dominance this season to substantiate the strength of his team’s league. Supporters were not impressed with the Argentinian’s comments and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan labelled him as a “Premier League reject” after his miserable time at rivals Manchester United.
