Report: Guardiola could face even more concerns as move for midfielder looks unlikely

Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting their side to make a number of additions to strengthen their cause to dominate English football and conquer the European game as well.

Pep Guardiola’s side ran away with the Premier League title last season, however, they did come up short in every other competition that they were involved in and the Spaniard will be keen that does not happen again.

One man that is thought to be on his radar as a possible target is Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic, however, reports are suggesting it could be difficult to bring him from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

According to TalkSport, via Cadena Cope, the 24-year-old has asked to leave Los Blancos as he looks for a fresh challenge, however, the Spanish giants have refused to grant him his wish and have told the Croatia international he is a key part of their plans.

Manchester City fans in the Tavern would have liked to have sorted a transfer out by now, however, it appears the club are struggling to get a deal across the line for a central midfielder. Kovacic would add quality to a talented midfield, however, it would seem that it is extremely unlikely that he will be arriving at the Etihad Stadium anytime soon.
