Revealed: 85% Tottenham fans fuming with Pochettino’s transfer mistake

Spurs fans here in the Tavern are keen for a couple of high-quality additions in the January transfer window. Mauricio Pochettino’s new-look Tottenham side have taken to the Premier League with flying colours, after a strong start to the season has seen them even be tipped as a possible title challenger. With a top 4 place becoming the biggest aspiration here at the club, there’s no reason why this can’t be achieved, with every game posing a different air of excitement for the Lilywhites fans.

However, one slightly concerning occurrence in this roller-coaster ride of a season was the Argentine’s choice to acquire the services of experienced Spanish striker Fernando Llorente, from fellow Premier League club Swansea City. Perhaps, after scoring 15 goals in 28 games for the Swans you can begin to gather why the London club could see potential in his talents.

A mixed reception was received at the time of his arrival, which slightly confused the Spurs fans here in the Tavern as to what sort of season Pochettino was setting them up for. Now 15 appearances later, fans judgments have been proven correct after the striker has been nothing short of lazy, and a waste of space in his backup role.

The Landlord here in the Tavern decided to throw up a poll for supporters to get their take on the chances of a stump in progress with Llorente in the side, and results were nothing short of emphatic with 85% of supporters agreeing that the striker has been a very costly signing for their side this season.

This poses no surprise at all, with the forward being rewarded with so much faith by Mauricio Pochettino, to then return the favour with 0 goals in his time at the club just goes to show how much of a waste he’s already been. Possibly the only thing Llorente has managed to do for the duration of this season, is miss the odd open goal, and take up the position that a deserved youth-player could have acquired.

But, with January approaching, offloading Llorente has got to be high on Pochettino’s list, with a backup striker proving vital to the progress and welfare of Harry Kane and this Spurs side.
