For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, Tiemoue Bakayoko has had a disappointing campaign so far. The Frenchman has played fairly frequently so far this term, quickly securing his place in the Chelsea first team, but in recent weeks, his form has plummeted.
Against Liverpool, in particular, he looked extremely poor. Lacking energy and discipline, he failed to track back when required and the Liverpool attack was able to get in behind him on more than one occasion. Fortunately for him, that didn’t really cost the Blues against the Reds, but against a more potent opponent, the same may not apply.
His spot in the Chelsea first team, then, surely must come under scrutiny as Chelsea prepare for their next game against Swansea City on Wednesday. It seems as though most fans are in agreement, with a whopping 86% of recently polled Chelsea fans voting for him to be dropped against the Swans when questioned by our landlord.
With, conversely, just 14% of fans keen to see him start the game, it’s clear that the Chelsea faithful are not ready to stand for another poor performance, and they want him to face the consequences of his terrible form.
With Danny Drinkwater, Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante all fit and available, Conte has more than a few choices against the Swans.
