The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for a few big names to move to Anfield. The Reds have had a tough start to the season, though Jurgen Klopp is slowly turning things around. For him to be able to compete with the likes of Antonio Conte’s Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s Man City, though, he needs a few more big signings.
There was a tangible sense of excitement, then, amongst the Reds in the pub when reports via the Daily Mail suggested that Liverpool are keen on a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon international is reportedly facing the exit door at his current club, according to Bild, and the Reds could look to pounce.
Unsurprisingly, this is a move that would delight the fans in the Transfer Tavern, and it seems as though that’s an opinion that is shared amongst most Liverpool fans. Our landlord recently polled supporters on the prospect, and a whopping 91% of the Liverpool supporters that responded voted in favour of Aubameyang’s arrival.
It’s no real surprise, of course. He bagged a stunning 31 league goals last season, earmarking him as one of Europe’s deadliest forwards. Providing electric pace, technical ability and a stunningly powerful shot, the striker would be the perfect fit at Anfield.
Liverpool are lacking a world-class number 9 at present, and Aubameyang could be that man. It won’t be an easy deal to secure, but the fans are very keen, it seems.
