Since breaking into the Tottenham first team a couple of years ago, Alli has really found his feet. This year he has gone on step further, becoming a vital cog in Pochettino’s machine – with Tottenham’s fortunes improving alongside his fine form.
Indeed, fans in the Transfer Tavern have even started discussing just how good Alli can be – with many touting him to become a Premier League great.
One fan has even suggested that he can reach the level of Steven Gerrard – and the comparisons between the pair are eerily reminiscent. Both are impressive on the ball, tough in the tackle and a real goal threat – though Gerrard was, of course, far more established.
At just 20-years-old, though, the potential is certainly there – and our landlord recently ran a poll asking fans one simple question: can he be as good as Steven Gerrard?
The response was near-unanimous, with 96% of fans confident that the Tottenham ace can reach Gerrard’s level.
