Manchester City has been spending loads of money this season, probably the highest by any Premier League club. They are trying to establish themselves as a potent force, both home and away, by getting some of the big names of football. Their seasons transfer included, Tevez, Adebayor, Lescott and few more.
However, they have not performed as expected by their fans and are already being rated as the under performers of the league, by various critics. In a recent report, Rio Ferdinand, the centre-back for Manchester United, has also remarked about City’s hopes.
Ferdinand, who has been ruled out of play due to an injury, made it clear that Manchester being a small place had room for only one big club, referring to United. He said that City did not have what it takes to win the big trophies and money certainly does not get immediate success.
In his reference to Chelsea, he mentioned that even though the club spent quite a lot, it took them some time to win the league. As for Manchester City, it would take quite some time considering the position they are in, at this moment.
The centre-back wished luck to the rivals, hoping that they would succeed in delivering their fans, what they have been expecting for long. Yet, in his heart he still believes that the emerging champion would once again be Manchester United.

So the most expensive defender ever wants to tell us that money doesn’t buy success !! Thanks mr F. By the way get some facts right. Chelsea were not in 3rd 4th or 5th when Mr A bought them, the 2 seasons preceeding his purchase they finished 6th. Of course United have never really spent big have they ??? Mr F himself still the most expensive English defender some years on from his move. Mr Berbatov over shadowed by Robhinio not just in the transfer fee but on his return on that fee – 14 goals last season for starters. Then of course there are those oh so cheap players like Rooney, van Nistelroy, Juan Sebastian Veron, Yorke et al. No money doesnt lead to any success at all does it. He went to Man United cos he wanted to not because of the large salary that was on offer.
Just cos the team from outside Manchester haven’t spent big this summer – first time for a while – they come out like they are some paragon’s of transfer virtue. Get real.
Most City fans know that the team needs time to gel and it may not lead to a trophy this season but will settle into what will be a team that challenges.
Let the football speak – don’t come out with crap about the manchester area not being big enough – London has lots of teams at least 3 are struggling for success whilst others try to attain the same.
