Punters here at the Transfer Tavern are rubbing their hands together, with the prospect of two rival clubs going for the same up-and-coming manager becoming ever more likely this morning.
Indeed, according to the Times, Fulham appear to have joined the race with their West London rivals QPR for the services of Burton manager, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. After their 5-2 home loss to Birmingham City, the board at Fulham finally took action, and sacked Kit Symons, with the club sitting 12th in the table.
The rise of Hasselbaink’s current club Burton has certainly been something. After securing the League Two title last year, Burton are chasing back-to-back titles as they currently sit second in League One, separated only by goal difference with Walsall.
It appears this rise has not only lead to many starting to notice Burton, but crucially it has lead to many beginning to notice the talent of their manager.
However, Burton, who have serious ambitions of their own, surely will not let their talented manager go without a fight.
