When Koeman was appointed as the new manager of Everton, the Toffees fans in the Transfer Tavern jumped for joy, as they knew they had a manager to push them back up the Premier League table!

Along with major financial backing, Everton have become a threat in English football and they will certainly be looking to add some world class players to their squad before the transfer window slams shut.

However, while Koeman may be focusing on adding to his squad, there are some players who simply need to be moved on.

With Everton wanting to make an impact this season, they may need to get rid of a few players who are either not good enough or are never utilised.

So here are 3 players that Koeman needs to axe before the end of the transfer window…..

Darron Gibson

The former Manchester United midfielder has been with Everton since 2012, and his time at Everton has been average, mainly due to injury problems.

This season the Northern Ireland born midfielder had a handful of appearances and maybe it’s now time for him to move on.

After making only 27 appearances in all of competitions over the last 3 years, the defensive midfielder seems to spend a lot of his time on the bench or injured.

It looked like Gibson was being released this season, but in June he was offered a 2 year extension. However, Everton may want to still sell him if they can buy a high quality replacement.

Aiden McGeady

It’s time for Aiden McGeady to leave the Toffees.

When McGeady signed for Everton in the 2013/14 season there where big expectations from the club and the fans.

However, McGeady just hasn’t seemed to ever find his rhythm at Everton.

McGeady’s Everton nightmare went from bad to worse this season when he was loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday.

Even while at Sheffield he could only manage to make 13 appearances and only scored 1 goal all season.

It seems that McGeady is only in the squad as a back up player and it may be wise to cash in on him as soon as possible.

Arouna Koné

Arouna Koné had a decent season for Everton last year as he perfectly acted as Martinez’s second choice striker behind an in-form Lukaku.

But at the age of 32, it might be time for Koeman to replace him with a younger striker who may develop.

In 31 appearances Koné scored 7 goals and assisted 3 and while that is good for a second choice striker, he may not have that good of a season this year considering his age and his tendency to be injury prone.

With the striker scoring in the Premier League he may go for a bit of money, also which could fund and pave way for a new up and coming striker to challenge and push Lukaku.

So while Koné performed well for Everton this season, Koeman may be wise to replace him with somebody better to help benefit the team.
