Manchester United and Everton fans have been involved in heated debates in the Transfer Tavern over the course of the past 24 hours, with Ronald Koeman’s explosive Sky Sports interview having set Mancunians and Liverpudlians against one another.
As we all know now, the Toffees’ Dutch boss dropped a couple of big hints that re-signing Wayne Rooney from the Red Devils is on the Merseysiders’ agenda for this coming summer, as he described the 31-year-old as a top player and suggested that he could make his current squad “stronger” at Goodison Park.
Although very few Tavern regulars are overly worried about ‘Wazza’ heading away, Man United fans can be heard in their booth talking about the prospect of Romelu Lukaku moving the other way in exchange.
In truth, this would take a big fee on the part of the Manchester giants, but with money no object and the club in need of a long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, there is some bulk to such talk.
Oh, and his agent is Mino Raiola, who loves a big transfer and eased Paul Pogba’s world-record-breaking return to Man United last year!
