Liverpool: Fans discuss Ryan Babel

Ryan Babel left Liverpool a long time ago, and it seems remarkable that he is still playing.

The Netherlands international joined the Reds in 2007 for £11.5m from Ajax, and he ended up playing for them for the next four years. During that time, he made 146 appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 18 assists – although he would end up leaving the club trophyless.

Since departing Anfield, he has appeared for no less than seven other clubs – that has included two other spells at Ajax, where he now currently plays. It is fair to say that he is a journeyman in European football.

With a lack of fresh football to discuss, Twitter page Anfield Edition has asked their followers to rate the 33-year-old out of 10 based on his time at Liverpool. The club’s supporters have been reacting to the question in their droves, with one suggesting that the Dutchman definitely had “raw talent.”

Was a really good player but Rafa killed him imo always played him out Ov position and when he did have a belting game he’d be in the bench the following game

6. I just don’t feel Rafa was the right manager for him. I feel if he’d gone to arsenal, he’d have really flourished. He needed to feel loved, that just wasn’t Rafa. He showed some great early promise, but faded away. Had so much raw talent.
