As per AS, Liverpool are one of a number of Premier League teams that are said to be interested in Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

AS’ report concentrates on news from Goal.com that Chelsea have entered the race for the Nigeria international as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.

However, prior to that, they share that Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal are amongst the other sides also looking at the 21-year-old.

Chukwueze has had a decent season so far in Spain, but not magnificent. In 30 matches in all competitions, he has four goals and four assists, compared to eight and three respectively in 38 games last season. Still, he is only 21, and has plenty of talent that under the right circumstances could be nurtured.

The potential price tag, though, could well be an issue. The winger has a release clause of €100m (£89.7m) in his contract, which would represent a significant outlay for Jurgen Klopp and co. In the current situation, that could stretch their budget to its limit.
With Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino up front, it would take someone truly special to displace any of that trio and, whilst Chukwueze would be one for the future anyway, he has not yet shown enough to prove that he could even be a strong back-up. He must do much more before earning such a move.
