Chelsea have really impressed this season, and given that the Blues currently sit atop the Premier League table – you can bet that Antonio Conte is going to receive a transfer kitty in January to ensure that Chelsea remain there.

The Blues have looked solid up and down the pitch, and the Chelsea fans in the Tavern have suggested that their squad setup is practically perfect – apart from 1 particular area.

They do have some concerns regarding the state of Chelsea’s defence, with Cesar Azpilicueta currently playing out of position in the middle-of-the-park, and John Terry the only real alternative for Conte should an injury arise.

Given that, it did not come as a surprise to them when it was revealed by ESPN that Chelsea are plotting a January move for German defender Niklas Sule.

Our landlord has praised the move, and has even suggested that if he were to join the Chelsea defence – the Blues would be unstoppable.

With that said, here is the unstoppable potential new-look Chelsea defence including Niklas Sule…

 CB – Niklas Sule

Niklas Sule is a towering defender currently playing for Hoffenheim – and he is perfect for this Chelsea defence.

A man mountain of a defender, Sule has the physical presence to displace Cesar Azpilicueta in this side – whilst also offering the transitional passing that the Spaniard brings.

What’s more, at just 21-years-old, Sule could be considered the successor to John Terry – and he would solve Conte’s defensive issues long-term.

His arrival would also allow Azpilicueta to shift out wider into a more natural position – meaning that this solution works in every way.

 CB – David Luiz

David Luiz has been a stalwart since he returned to Chelsea – and he simply must continue to play.

He brings technique, bravery and leadership to this defence – and his role as a ball-playing defender is severely underrated.

He isn’t a popular figure in the Tavern for his tendency to produce mistakes, but there can be no complaints about his Chelsea form so far. He has been unstoppable.

 CB – Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill has been at the centre of a host of criticism in recent weeks, not least because of his own-goal against Man City at the weekend – but in truth, he has been stellar since the formation shift.

In the absence of John Terry, Cahill is this team’s captain – and he has transformed into a real leader in recent weeks.

He needs to keep his place, and Sule will be able to learn from the English veteran.
