Rangers: Fans slam Scott Arfield after Benfica collapse

Glasgow Rangers will be gutted after failing to secure three points at Benfica, and Scott Arfield will be disappointed with his cameo from the bench.

The Gers were in a commanding position with 15 minutes left on the clock. After Connor Goldson’s early own-goal, they had managed to turn it around to 3-1, albeit with the helping hand from a Nicolas Otamendi red card. Diogo Goncalves beat his own goalkeeper to level things up, before Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos struck to put the Ibrox outfit in control.

However, Rafa Silva and Darwin Nunez netted late on to secure a point for their side. The £1.8m-valued 32-year-old (Transfermarkt) was at fault for the third strike, with his awful through ball allowing Benfica to have one final effort at goal, from which they scored.

The Gers supporters were absolutely disgusted, and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts – one fan even called it a ‘Stuart Armstrong moment’.
