It’s certainly been a difficult few months after a dreadful transfer window at Celtic. Indeed, with top targets having gone elsewhere and Brendan Rodgers visibly frustrated with the state of play in Glasgow, cracks could soon begin to appear in the Hoops’ previous total dominance of Scottish football.
Still, while there’s an awful lot to talk about off the field right now, there is the rather small matter of an Old Firm coming up later today. Though it’s early in the season, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side have looked impressive already and their visit to Parkhead in just a few hours is likely to define the complexion of the campaign from now.
So, while most the talk to do with the Bhoys over the last few months has largely centred around the players they haven’t signed, we recently ran a poll in regard to one of the players they currently have.
With Dedryck Boyata invoking the ire of the Celtic faithful after missing training, we questioned whether the Belgian should start against Rangers later. Linked with a move away all summer, it’s been a turbulent time for the 27-year-old, though Rodgers is certainly light on the ground in defensive areas.
Interestingly enough, as you’ll see in the results of our poll, the former Manchester City man still retains the support of the fans, though that may indeed be a reflection on the threadbare state of their squad right now.
Hopefully for Celtic fans, if he does play, he fares better than the shaky display he put in against the Gers way back in April.
