A lot of Celtic fans praised former Hoops player Paul Lambert after a post on Twitter talking about his time at the club.
The former defensive midfielder spent eight seasons at the Hoops from 1997 to 2005 and was a consistent player for the Scottish side, making 252 appearances in all competitions, via thecelticwiki. He was also vital in the wonderful 1997/98 season that saw Celtic stop Rangers from winning 10 league titles in a row.
How good a signing was Lambert for Celtic?
Lambert had a glittering career at the club and he also enjoyed success abroad, as he spent a season in Germany for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, where he won the Champions League. Nowadays he is having a go at management, and is currently in charge of an Ipswich side chasing promotion from League One after previous spells at Aston Villa, Blackburn and Wolves, among others (as per Transfermarkt).
Here is what some Celtic fans had to say following the tweet:
Paul Lambert lifts the Scottish Cup in 2001 after beating Hibs 3-0 in the final. Legend has it that David Murray refused to finance a deal to bring Paul to Ibrox in late 1997 and Celtic stepped in. Great move for the Celts. pic.twitter.com/XDOI1ASpri

No one understood the simplicity of football better than Paul Lambert.
And the Germans recognised this.
The art of finding a team mate with a pass, retaining possession. He was a master 🍀

Great signing for Celtic. Big goal at new year in first year v Rangers. Stopped the 10 and was then captain during a very successful time under O’Neill. https://t.co/3WXPodCe3j
