Some fans of Rangers have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Graham Spiers discussed the completion of the Scottish Premiership season.
In a recent article published by The Times, the journalist questioned how long professional football will continue in Scotland amid the current spike in cases of the global pandemic.
In reaction, one Rangers fan called out Spiers, suggesting that his article is timely as his alleged ‘preferred SPFL winners’ Celtic currently trail Steven Gerrard’s side by a significant margin in the Scottish Premiership table.
However, Spiers then hit back, stating that the fan was starting a ‘conspiracy’ with his claim, and that he did not suggest that the current season be deemed null and void, nor did he say that the season should be called early, but simply that football should be played ‘when it is safe’ to do so.
This was not the end of the debate, however, as many Rangers fans then piled in on Spiers once again, with many questioning how the season could be postponed with the fixture list already being congested and with a major summer tournament on the horizon.
Should the SPFL season be deemed null and void?
So, what exactly did these Rangers fans have to say in reaction to Graham Spiers’ tweet?
“What you on about? How is that even possible. If you stop the league you hand Rangers the title and you relegate the bottom team. We have no time to fit any football in. Anyway, nothing has changed football-wise since the start of the season so why stop? Why even mention it?”
“Oh Graham, just admit you’ve made another blunder. Calling for the Fitbaw to be stopped but the Rugby to go ahead.”
“Why isn’t it safe? Please explain?”
“Be serious Graham. You stop football now there’s no time to restart and finish before the Euros.”
“Ok cool 55 it is then, cheers son. Do we need Zoom to clarify? Or Dundee?”
“They should just realise you’re a terrible journalist, saying you’re excited for 6 Nations starting and that football should be stopped in the same paper.”
“You are desperate.”
