Rangers’ converted winger Joe Aribo was lauded by a number of the club’s fans on Twitter last night after capping his impressive performance with a goal.
The 23-year-old took his season’s tally of goals to six when he struck in the opening minutes of the Light Blues’ 3-0 win at Hibernian, winning the ball from Lewis Stevenson before playing a one-two with Ryan Jack and finishing to the net to put Rangers two goals up inside eight minutes. By that stage he had already had a hand in the visitors’ first goal at Easter Road, intercepting Ofir Marciano’s clearance as the ball fell to Ryan Kent to dispatch it to the net. [via Sky Sports]
Aribo came close to doubling his tally later in the first half when he was played through by a clever disguised pass from Kent, only for Marciano to thwart the ex-Charlton man (as per Sky Sports), who has come in for plenty of praise for his recent performances.
James Black of Rangers News said that he “looks to have finally arrived as a Rangers player” after the recent draw against Young Boys, while Cameron Willis (also of Rangers News) felt that he was “one of the most influential players on the pitch” against Motherwell last week.
Black was again complimentary of Aribo last night, writing for Rangers News that he is “looking like a totally different player after being moved wide right” in his last three matches, having played mainly as a central midfielder this season.
These ‘Gers fans on Twitter also lauded the 23-year-old after last night’s resounding win:
