Rangers: Fans stunned by revelation of Brandon Barker’s £10,000-a-week wage - Rangers

A number of Rangers fans have expressed their disbelief at the weekly wages being paid to rarely-seen winger Brandon Barker.

The Daily Record reported that the 23-year-old is believed to be earning more than £10,000 per week at Ibrox but the same report claimed that manager Steven Gerrard hopes to get him off the club’s wage bill before the end of the January transfer window in order to accommodate one signing ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Barker only signed for Rangers last August, joining from Manchester City, but has struggled to win over Gerrard during the season. Prior to Wednesday’s match against Ross County, he has made 11 appearances across all competitions, with seven of those coming as a substitute. His only goal for the club thus far came on his Premiership debut against Livingston back in September, with the winger playing a paltry 13 minutes in the league over the last three months. These Rangers fans on Twitter were left stunned when they heard that Barker was taking home more than £10,000 per week at Ibrox, with one deriding former Director of Football Mark Allen, who according to Football Insider was hugely influential in getting the transfer done:

Rangers fans, are you surprised at the size of the wages that the club are paying to Barker? Would you be in favour of him being offloaded this week? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
