The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been frustrated with Adam Lallana over the last year. The Englishman has had some unfortunate injury problems, and at 30-years-old, his long-term prospects aren’t looking great.
Replacing him, then, should be on Jurgen Klopp’s mind this summer, and our landlord thinks that Emil Forsberg, who is rated at £22.5 million by Transfer Markt, would be a great choice.
Currently playing for RB Leipzig, the Swedish attacker has enjoyed a good few years over in Germany.
Offering decent pace, energy and commitment, he’s been a real threat going forward for the German side. He’s able to play in a number of positions, including out wide and more centrally, and you’d expect him to fit in a number of roles at Anfield.
He’s been particularly influential from the middle this season, and you’d expect that would be the role he would be playing at Liverpool. He hasn’t had the best year, but he proved his worth the season before last with a stunning 8 goals and 19 assists – and so the talent is clearly there.
Over the years, Lallana has been the focal point of this team, and Forsberg would be expected to replicate that. However, he certainly has the ability to do that, having been the main string-puller during Leipzig’s rapid rise up the table.
At 26-years-old, he’d represent a long-term solution for the Reeds, and he’s a player that they can’t afford to miss out on.
