Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern has watched West Ham have a very mixed season.

Indeed, they started off awfully, picked up a bit, dropped a bit and now they look like they are finally moving in the right direction!

The Hammers have some players who have been consistently solid – the likes of Pedro Obiang and Darren Randolph – not to mention their top scorer Michail Antonio!

They’re looking for a good top ten finish, then, and that would surely still mark a decent season.

However some of the players who had a super season last term, just simply haven’t been up to scratch and still have a lot to prove their worth to the club and prove why they shouldn’t be sold in the summer!

With that our landlord takes a look at these three West Ham players, who seriously need prove their worth between now and the end of the season…

ADRIAN

It’ll be hard for the Spanish keeper to prove his worth this season after the rise of Randolph to a consistent number one meaning Adrian has taken his spot on the bench.

The 30-year-old stopper will have to hope his reputation is enough for the club to want to keep him – then again he may wish to leave to be a first choice at another club. He could still do a job elsewhere and that will be at the back of his mind.

DIAFRA SAKHO

At one point last summer it looked like the Senegalese striker was heading to West Brom but he failed a fitness test at a club and it fell through.

He has since declared he wants to play for the club after a short spell in exile and training by himself. He made his return and made an instant impact however he unfortunately got injured and with Ashley Fletcher and Andy Carroll performing well it could spell the end of Sakho. When he returns he’ll be hoping to make an impact again.

JAMES COLLINS

The ‘Ginger Pele’ has been a fan favourite over his two spells at the club but he’s not really proving to be worthwhile this season.

With the likes of Angelo Ogbonna, Jose Fonte and Winston Reid he will find it hard to be a starting defender. Not only that but next season when Reece Oxford returns from his loan spell at Reading he will 100% be in contention for a first team spot!
