Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that after a successful transfer window, it’s time for the Gunners to turn themselves into more than just an FA Cup winning team.

Arsene Wenger brought in two quality players in January, adding Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the ranks, introducing yet more attacking quality to the Emirates’ halls. Many inside the pub recently are hoping that after half a season of gelling together, next year can be a good campaign and possibly see the Gunners challenge for the title.

Indeed, Wenger may have to sell to bring further reinforcements in and, he has a few deadwood players within the squad that could be easily shipped out to release further funds.

The punters playing pool in the back room are discussing which two players should be sold after not having the best of campaigns so far this term. With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at the two players in conversation…

Danny Welbeck

The former Man United player hasn’t set the Emirates alight since his move south a few seasons ago, and after recent signings, it seems that Danny Welbeck is to drop further down the pecking order. Welbeck’s goal to game ratio for a striker is poor and although he can provide quick pace on the counter, his overall game is largely sloppy at times.

Still relatively young, Welbeck could bring in a fair few million into the club.

Petr Cech

The ageing Petr Cech is looking like the years are catching up with him finally, despite all the years of outstanding service to both Chelsea and Arsenal. If Wenger is to move this team forward, surely a younger version of Cech is much needed.

Arsenal’s backup keeper David Ospina isn’t anywhere need the level they would like to have within the ranks, and a shot-stopper should surely be top of the shopping list in the summer.
