Serie A club come sniffing for Manchester United misfit

anderson.jpgIt’s been a quiet Monday in the Football Transfer Tavern thus far.

However, a debate has broken out near the fruit machine with two Manchester United supporters arguing about who they think David Moyes should offload in the January transfer window.

With United seventh in the Premier League, still five points off Liverpool in fourth, something needs to change at Old Trafford and with speculation picking up in recent weeks it appears that Moyes could well have a productive window in the transfer market.

However in order to bring in new recruits it is likely that the Red Devils will have flog off some of their deadwood. One of the two punters is convinced that Brazilian midfielder Anderson should be included in those leaving Old Trafford while his pal isn’t as sure.

Now reports from Sky Sports suggest a possible January destination for the 25-year-old with Serie A outfit Fiorentina reportedly interested in signing the misfit midfielder.

The former Porto man, who joined the club as a 19-year-old in a £25 million transfer back in May 2007, has only made two starts under new boss David Moyes and he could now join the Viola on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

The news is confirmed by Fiorentina director of football Daniele Prade who told Sky Sports:  “Anderson is a player who Fiorentina likes and is following, but this certainly applies to many other players.”

“If the right opportunity comes, we will seize the moment. But it is useless to talk about an individual name as we have many targets, and many of these have not come out.”

Anderson has never fully reached his full potential with United, due to injuries, patchy form and questionable attitude and we believe that now could be the right time for the Red Devils to let him leave.

Should United offload Anderson or does he still have a future at Old Trafford? Let us know your thoughts below.
