Serie A giants renew interest in Man City ace after 2008 rejection

Jovetic.jpgManchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are expecting at least one striker to leave this summer, especially as the Daily Star has revealed that Juventus are going to renew their interest in Stevan Jovetic.

The Italian giants were close to snapping him up in 2008 when he was at Partizan Belgrade but they ultimately lost out to Fiorentina who paid £8 million for the Montenegrin star.

But seven years on, Juve are pursuing the injury-prone striker and they fancy their chances of landing him after the Citizens’ signing of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City pushed him out of their Champions League squad.

Despite this recent crushing news for Jovetic, Manuel Pellegrini insists the Montenegro international still has a future at the Etihad Stadium.

Jovetic joined the Citizens for £22 million back in 2013 but his time in Manchester has been mixed, scoring some key goals but enduring long spells out with injury.

Before the 2014/15 season started, Jovetic was tipped to justify his price tag after a promising pre-season but once again, injuries denied him the opportunity.
