It’s been a shaky season for Manchester City so far. The fans in the Transfer Tavern were dreaming of a Premier League title, but now it looks like a top 4 spot is the best that the side can achieve.

Despite some disappointing performances, Pep’s side has seen the growth of a few players, with Gabriel Jesus already making himself a fan favourite to the punters in the Tavern. You also have the star men such as Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva who are highly respected at the club.

However, some players are just not recognised and respected in the City team. These are the players that, despite putting in decent performances, rarely get praised for it.

It’s hard to think that any Man City player are underrated but, even in the top teams, there are players that will never get a chant from the Sky Blues faithful.

Here are 2 seriously underrated Manchester City players who deserve the recognition and respect they need…

Nicolás Otamendi

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been furious with their team’s defence this season. John Stones, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Claudio Bravo have all had terrible seasons so far. However, Nicolas Otamendi has been performing better than he ever has done in a City shirt.

The centre-back has managed to perform remarkably well considering the fact that Kompany has been injured most of the season and John Stones hasn’t coped with the pressure of his big money move.

Yet, due to City’s poor defensive performances, the Argentine will never get the recognition that he deserves to get from the City fans in the Tavern.

Aleksandar Kolarov

Aleksander Kolarov is yet another defender who will not be respected this season due to other defensive faults in the City team. Kolarov has always been an underrated left back in the Premier League. He never comes up when the fans in the Tavern discuss the best left back in England yet he has consistently been in City’s squad for over 7 seasons.

He may not start every game but generally when he plays he makes a difference and this season has been no different. Kolarov has been one of the reasons why City’s season is just poor and not horrific but he wont get the recognition he fully deserves.
