It’s safe to say that Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have endured a season full of ups and downs!

Pep Guardiola sure has found out how tough the English Premier League can be and there is no doubt from our landlord that the Man City boss will be active in the transfer market in the summer, and many of his current City contingent will be looking over their shoulder.

The Citizens in the Tavern agree but can’t help but cast their minds back to some of the clangers that their club has made in regards to letting players move away, and fear that Guardiola may do the same with some players next time he gets the chance.

Our landlord has taken a trip down memory lane and really thought about some of the players that City have let get away, and cannot believe some of the talent they have let go.

His findings have caused a lot of debate in the Tavern over who should have stayed in the blue half of Manchester.

With that said, our landlord has selected FOUR players that should have never left the Etihad Stadium so soon…

James Milner

Oh, hindsight is a wonderful thing and our landlord is certain that if City could predict Milner becoming more than a half decent full back, he would still be a highly valued member of the Manchester City squad.

With Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarav being less than convincing in the left back position for City this year, on top of the fact that Pep Guardiola has played make shift full backs at times this season – City fans in the Tavern are fuming that no one at the club saw the potential in Milner for that position, baring in mind his history of being a utility player.

Jerome Boateng

Citizens in the Transfer Tavern would love to see Boateng leading the Manchester City back line following the injuries to club captain, Vincent Kompany.

The German international has really progressed following his move to German champions, Bayern Munich from the blue half of Manchester and our landlord believes he is just what Manchester City need in their current back line.

Edin Dzeko

With over 30 goals in all competitions for Roma this season, did Manchester City let Dzeko leave just in the peak of his career?

Citizens in the Tavern have many fond memories of their former number 10 from his City days, but with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus currently at their disposal, do they really need another striker among their ranks?

Our landlord thinks Guardiola could definitely have done with Dzeko this season, even if it was as an impact sub to switch things up and as he’s proved at Roma, he is a natural goalscorer which is a hard thing to find in the modern day.

Joe Hart

Although still under contract at Manchester City, will Pep Guardiola regret all but closing the door on the England international?

Our Manchester City fans in the Tavern certainly think so and they are screaming for Guardiola to change his mind following the shambles that have been Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballero this season.

Even our landlord believes that Guardiola has got this wrong and has stated that it is not too late to give Hart another chance at the Etihad.
