If there is one thing that has been a cause for concern at Sheffield Wednesday over the years, it has been their problems with the Financial Fair Play regulations and their failure to comply with them.
The Owls have been in fine form since Steve Bruce took over in January and have put together a number of impressive results to help put them in contention for promotion to the Premier League, something that did not look possible just a few months or so ago.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, Sheffield Wednesday could join Birmingham City in being punished by the English Football League for breaching the financial rules that have been brought in place.
It is claimed that the club could face sanctions, with the possibility of facing a point deduction could be something to worry about as the Blues were hit with a nine-point deduction earlier in the week, which could be added to the club next season, even if they were to win promotion to the Premier League.
Aston Villa and Derby Country are also potentially in trouble and could come under scrutiny as well, whilst the cut off for sanctions is believed to be on March 28.

Wednesdaynites would have been rather pleased with how things were going on the pitch at Hillsborough, however, the potential that a points deduction could be on the cards will really bring the excitement at the club down a fair few notches.
The news that Birmingham were hit with a significant point deduction was one that always had the precedent to create major problems for other clubs in the Football League and Sheffield Wednesday were always going to be one to come under scrutiny.
However, the point deduction is something that came as a surprise to many and had sent shockwaves through the Championship and if Wednesday were hit with one, it would almost immediately end any hope of trying to resolve their financial position without having to offload any of their key players, as well as their hopes of playing Premier League football next season.
