Sheffield Wednesday: Fans let rip at Barry Bannan during Preston North End defeat

Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans were not impressed with midfielder Barry Bannan during his side’s 1-0 defeat against Preston North End yesterday.

The Owls were on the wrong end of the scoreline once more at Deepdale as they sit rooted to the bottom of the Championship along with Derby County, thanks to a red card from Josh Windass in the first half and a goal from Tom Barkhuizen after the interval.

But it wasn’t just Windass that the fans were aggrieved with – Bannan was yet another player who came under intense scrutiny for his performance.

During the 90 minutes, the 30-year-old lost possession 16 times, did not win a single duel and accumulated a pass success rate of just 65% (Sofascore).

With this in mind, supporters were not impressed with the Scot, who was praised heavily by fans and even Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola last season.
