Sheffield Wednesday bowed out of the FA Cup fifth round last night as Manchester City beat them 1-0 at Hillsborough thanks to a Sergio Aguero goal in the early stages of the second half.
The Owls would have been aware that they were not the favourites but that might have helped them feel as though they could have played more freely and they certainly gave a good account of themselves.
In the end, City’s extra class told as they ran out the victors but fans of the home side will be buoyed by the performance and will hope that can be carried into the remainder of the league campaign.
One man that impressed Pep Guardiola for the Owls, meanwhile, was Barry Bannan with the midfielder evidently catching the eye for his work on the ball.
A man that has got criticism from Owls fans this season, though, Pep’s comments sparked plenty of debate on Twitter.
Let’s see what has been said:
Wish he would start playing like one
