Sheffield Wednesday suffered a heavy defeat to Brentford on Saturday afternoon in the Sky Bet Championship as they lost to the Bees at Griffin Park.
The Owls have been one of the most inconsistent sides in the second tier this season but, thanks to the nature of the league, they went into this one still with hope of breaking into the play-offs – if they could get on a good run.
Indeed, beating Brentford would have been an ideal way of kicking off such a run with them promotion contenders themselves but, as the scoreline would suggest, the Owls failed to even land a glove on their hosts during what was a heavy defeat.
That said, then, it’s perhaps no surprise that Owls fans lost their rag on social media after the game with several slating their side and, by the looks of things, it seems as though their play-off hopes really are over in reality.
