Leeds United fans here in the Tavern are desperate for their side to return to winning ways, after losing to Aston Villa last time out in the Championship.
Indeed, the Whites will be hoping to finish the current campaign strongly as Paul Heckingbottom’s future remains in doubt, after struggling to ensure consistency since taking over from Thomas Christiansen. And, after suffering a 1-0 defeat against promotion contenders Aston Villa last time out, many of our local residents are expecting nothing less than a win later on today.
Interestingly, Leeds will welcome Heckingbottom’s former club Barnsley to Elland Road later on today, with the Tykes still fighting for a future in the Championship. Although, a number of changes will need to be made prior to kick-off after a disappointing display against Villa, as a couple of players may be forced out of the side.
Therefore, these TWO Leeds United players absolutely cannot play later today…
Paudie O’Connor
Paudie O’Connor struggled to deal with Jonathan Kodjia in the Whites’ 1-0 defeat last time out, as mistakes were ever-present in what was a rather nervy performance from the 20-year-old.
Indeed, the central defender didn’t look quite ready for Championship football as it may have come too soon, with many of our local residents wanting to see him get replaced by a more experienced first-team member later on today.
So without further ado, Leeds United cannot start the youngster later on today against Barnsley, as the Whites will want to secure all three points against one of their rivals and Heckingbottom’s old side.
Ezgjan Alioski
Interestingly, the 26-year-old was one of Leeds United’s star players towards the start of the current campaign, but he’s struggled to have a positive effect on proceedings in recent times as a huge disappointment.
Sadly, there was no change in his last performance against Aston Villa as he often chose the wrong option in the final third, as a mixture of mistakes and greediness had many of our local residents feeling fed up.
Therefore, the Whites should look to drop the attacker from the starting lineup prior to kick-off against Barnsley later today, as he’s not done enough to warrant a place in Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
