The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to more potential signings coming to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

With that said, the Citizens’ optimism that was apparent last summer with the appointment of Pep Guardiola but that has certainly died down and the Spanish boss is now expected to back some major changes to his squad in the summer transfer window.

Whilst success is in demand, our landlord has reiterated that City have plenty of dead wood that is preventing their club from really cutting themselves loose in the transfer market, especially when you look at the wages these players are on.

This has sparked mass debate in the Tavern among the City fans and they know that some players will have to leave in order to recruit some new signings. The discussion really has explored the options Guardiola has in terms of axing players as well as signing them.

So, with that said and various names flying around the Tavern, our landlord has listed the player that City must axe and the signing they must make to replace this player and his finding is something to froth the mouths of the City fans…

AXE: Sergio Aguero

With the rise of Gabriel Jesus, our landlord believes that Sergio Aguero will not be happy to be second best at City for the coming season.

City fans think it is crazy that there are even murmurs of Aguero leaving and they do not want to see their talisman leave, especially if Guardiola doesn’t have a replacement lined up but our landlord believes any rift between Aguero and Guardiola will only widen and it is inevitable that he will be axed.

SIGN: Alexis Sanchez

The Arsenal man’s future is still in the balance and our landlord feels that if Guardiola axes Aguero, City will have to break the bank to sign Alexis.

Arsene Wenger has said that he won’t sell Alexis to his rivals but with the Chilean in the last year of his contract, a big offer may well bring Alexis to the Etihad and that would be easily the biggest signing of this transfer window should it happen.
