Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are in very high spirits at the moment after they saw their side win ugly against a ‘lesser side’ over the weekend.
Of course, on the face of such a sentence it seems almost laughable but it is understandable when you look at how their season has gone.
Indeed, whilst they’ve beaten the big sides they’ve crumbled in the other games and that is what has put their title hopes out of reach for this season.
Against Burnley, too, it looked like they were once again going to drop points in a game they should have won but for Emre Can’s fine winner.
That could be the catalyst, then, for the Reds to kick on in the Champions League race with them just a point behind Man City and it appears they’ve got more fighting spirit than you might imagine.
As per OptaJoe on Twitter the Reds have fought back from losing positions to win more points more than anyone else – alongside Spurs – this season:

A positive boost, then, and they’ll surely be keen to carry on getting points as much as they can between now and May.
