Simon Mignolet still keen on departure

Liverpool could still see another goalkeeper leave Anfield this summer as the shot-stopper has revealed he is not prepared to be second choice.

According to a report by The Sun, Simon Mignolet has stated that the departure of Loris Karius to Besiktas on a two-year loan deal does not change things for him, although he did admit his future still remains unknown.

“[Karius leaving] doesn’t change anything,” he told The Sun.

“I made it clear that I want to play regularly and being No2 doesn’t change that.

“There haven’t been talks [between myself and] Liverpool. I don’t know what my future holds.”

The Belgium ‘keeper has had a difficult time at Anfield over the past couple of seasons, being brought in and out of the team, whilst also sitting as an understudy to Karius for much of the last campaign.

And, with the addition of Alisson from AS Roma, it looks unlikely that he will have another chance to break into the first-team once again.

The Verdict:

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will let the Belgium international leave the club this summer.

Karius is not the only goalkeeper to have left Anfield this summer, with Danny Ward having completed a switch to Leicester City earlier in the transfer window.

However, the 30-year-old, who is rated at £9million by Transfermarkt, appears to be adamant that he wants to leave Merseyside and restart his career.
