Southampton target Husein Balic has responded to reports linking him with a move to St Mary’s and had said that he must wait and see whether the interest in him is actually concrete.
Balic responds to Saints interest
The Saints have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who is said to be one of the fastest players on the planet. It has been reported that current club LASK want £2.8m for his services.
The winger has been speaking to Bosnian outlet Reprezentacija, and he told them that he is not too interested at the moment. He said:
“I also read (links with Celtic and Southampton) in the media. We need to wait and see how much truth there is in all this, that is, how concrete it is. But I don’t care much for that,
“I am focusing only on the national team and my club. Work needs to be done on the pitch in the right way.”
Wait and see
Balic has been in promising form for the Austrian outfit so far this campaign. In 14 games in all competitions, he has managed five goals and two assists, proving himself to be a valuable member of LASK’s squad. Throughout his career, he has scored 21 times in 103 total games (Transfermarkt).
Would you like to sign Balic?
With the St. Mary’s outfit potentially looking to bring in another winger, Balic could fit the bill, and his price tag makes him a relative bargain.
Of course, it makes sense that he would refuse to commit to any interest at the moment as these links may just be speculation. In the long-term, though, his future could lie elsewhere, and there are far worse destinations for him to land than on the south coast.
