The Daily Mail has a rather shocking claim for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that David Luiz could well ask for a move to leave Chelsea.
The defender has been linked with a move to both Bayern Munich and Catalan giants Barcelona all summer and now it seems after having an initial £35 million bid for the player rejected, Barcelona now want Luiz himself to ask for a move.
When Jose Mourinho arrived back at Stamford Bridge, we were unsure as to how much he actually wanted Luiz at the club, given the defender’s cavalier style of play and the fact that he is known for often making mistakes.
Now however, it seems that Mourinho is determined to keep the player and even advised Barcelona to move onto their second target for the summer, as they have no chance of landing the first.
As we all know, the second target is Liverpool centre back Daniel Agger, who is also not for sale as the start of the season approaches.
Whilst Barcelona think that Luiz would be prepared to join them, Mourinho is confident the player is happy at Stamford Bridge and is unwilling to move anywhere else – even the Catalan giants and has reassured the Brazilian he has a huge part to play in the Chelsea side in the up and coming months.
