The Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern were feeling frustrated after their side’s draw with West Bromwich Albion yesterday evening.
Jurgen Klopp welcomed Alan Pardew’s side to Anfield last night for the club’s first fixture since their derby-day draw with Everton. The resident Reds in the tavern were full of expectation ahead of their clash with The Baggies, but once again, they were thoroughly disappointed by their team’s lacklustre display. West Brom – who are without a win since mid-August – put in a gutsy display to hold Liverpool to a 0-0 draw following a tense fixture which could have gone either way.
Klopp’s team-selection from the Merseyside derby has understandably been one of the major themes to dominate the post-match narrative this week, after he made a bold decision to leave out Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can from his starting-eleven.
All three of the aforementioned players were restored to Klopp’s starting line-up last night, and tasked with firing Liverpool back to winning ways, but they failed to break the deadlock even with the so called ‘big four’ on the pitch.
In the aftermath of proceedings, Liverpool supporters engaged in a discussion on Twitter regarding their German managers team-selection.
It appears that plenty of supporters are fully behind Klopp after the result and they insisted that the responsibility ultimately rests with the players after their failure to break down the diligent Baggies.
But a handful of others remain exasperated by their failure to defeat their Merseyside rivals, and consequently, they have labelled Klopp’s team-selection as a momentum killer.
