Stoke City and Crystal Palace weighing up move for 24-year-old midfielder

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Stoke City are looking at signing FC Porto and Portuguese youth international midfielder Sergio Oliveira with the likes of Crystal Palace and Palermo also looking at the player.

Our resident Stoke fans here in the Transfer Tavern certainly hope they can pull it off given the fact that he is only 24-years-old, so he’s got plenty of time to improve his ability.

The Potters have already dealt with Porto in recent times with the loan signing of defender Bruno Martins Indi and the permanent signing of Giannelli Imbula, so they’d be well placed to deal with the Portuguese side again should they go for a deal.

Oliveira has spent much of his time in Porto’s B side but has made 24 appearances for the senior side at the club.

Should Stoke sign him he’d be competing with the likes of Glenn Whelan and Joe Allen for a starting berth in the side.

A handful of Palace fans by the pool table here in the Tavern would love to see the midfielder at their club, and hope Pardew makes a move for him in January!
