Stoke City fans react as Cuco Martina leaves club

Stoke City supporters have been pretty despondent in recent times after seeing their side suffer a third Championship defeat of 2019 at the weekend.

Nathan Jones’ men went into their clash with Preston North End at the bet365 Stadium off the back of beating league leaders Leeds United in their previous league encounter, and thus seeking to clinch back-to-back league wins for the first time since October. Yet the Potters were comfortably second-best on Saturday as goals from Alan Browne and Brad Potts sealed a routine 2-0 success for Alex Neil’s Lilywhites, thus inflicting a third Championship defeat of 2019 on Jones’ Stoke.

As such, there have been many disappointed Potters fans up and down the country in recent times, although several have taken to Twitter to express their delight at news Cuco Martina has left the club (as per the club’s official website).

The right back made the move to the Staffordshire-based outfit on loan from Premier League side Everton during the summer, as former boss Gary Rowett sought quality and experienced additions in a bid to help the Potters bounce back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Yet the Curacao international hardly set the world alight in his short time at Stoke with just 17 Championship appearances for the Potters, with his time at the club officially over following his recall by Everton to join Dutch outfit Feyenoord on loan for the rest of the season.

And his departure has stimulated quite a reaction from Stoke supporters on Twitter, with plenty rejoicing at the news of Martina’s exit…
