Sources close to Football League World have claimed that Sunderland are keen to make a summer move for Sydney FC striker Adam Le Fondre.
Black Cats boss Phil Parkinson faces a summer of change at the club as he looks to build a side capable of gaining promotion from League One to the Championship.
A second consecutive failure to gain promotion has firmly put pressure on Parkinson and the summer transfer window is expected to see a number of players arrive at the Stadium of Light.
One area the Sunderland boss could look to improve is in attack having seen the likes of Charlie Wyke and Will Grigg struggle to find consistent goal scoring form.
A potential summer arrival has now emerged in much experienced striker Le Fondre, who has been playing in Australia and has 181 senior goals during his career in English football for a plethora of clubs.
The 33-year-old Stockport born striker netted an impressive 18 goals in 21 games in the A League for Sydney FC, whilst also picking up one assist.

Football League World also claim via sources that Sunderland’s League One rivals Portsmouth are keen to make a move for the former Reading front man.
Le Fondre’s goal record during the 19/20 season was certainly impressive but it would be a gamble for Sunderland to hand him a chance next term, especially with such pressure set on the shoulders of Parkinson to gain promotion.
The potential interest does seem a little bit similar to that of Will Grigg, who had a good record before moving to the Stadium of Light and has struggled to say the least.
As experienced as Le Fondre is of the Football League, he would not be a player that becomes the future of the club, merely just a helping hand.
