Sunderland confirmed on Wednesday that midfielder Elliot Embleton has signed a new long-term deal.

And, as to be expected, a number of Black Cats supporters were quick to react to the news on social media.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a fresh three-and-a-half-year deal at the Stadium of Light, keeping him at the club until 2025.

Embleton has made 33 senior appearances for the club after progressing through the youth system, with 12 of those coming during the current campaign.

The attacking midfielder has scored twice and registered three assists under Lee Johnson in recent months, missing just one League One fixture so far.

Embleton admitted he is ‘buzzing’ to sign new terms, while Johnson shared his delight at the news on the club’s official website.
